During the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a serious need for temporary medical facilities. Hospital capacity has reached a tipping point. Temporary medical tents are popping up outside of hospitals, in designated drive-thru testing areas, and even in Central Park in New York City.

Right now, Regency Lighting is looking for ways to support critical infrastructure and industries, like healthcare systems, who are trying to stop the spread of the virus.

One of the solutions is to provide temporary lighting for these medical tents, and any other essential construction sites that might need them as well.

Temporary lighting solutions

Temporary lighting, like these string lights, are typically used for construction and job site lighting. Because of the space shortage many hospitals are facing, they are now being used for temporary medical facilities.

Temporary lighting has several advantages for hospital tents:

  • Portable – Temporary lights are easy to move from one location to another, medical tents included.
  • Easy to use – Temporary healthcare tents may be set up in areas that would not typically have electricity. One product we are carrying includes everything you need for power and lighting (more on that below).
  • Powerful illumination – Job site lights provide a lot of light for workers. This is beneficial for medical professionals who are evaluating patients.

There are several different types of job site lights, but the most beneficial for healthcare workers right now is string lights. It's easy to string together multiple lights, and the strings have different lengths to fit your needs.

Temporary lighting products

You have several options available for temporary lighting products, including fluorescent and LED light sources, as well anti-bacterial lights. We also have entire kits available that will supply you with lighting and power combined into one.

For temporary medical lighting, it may not seem like there is a difference between fluorescent and LED options. Keep in mind that LED technology is more advanced and the color rendering is often better. A true accuracy of color is crucial in a healthcare setting.

Temporary work lights

There are several different types of temporary work lights available for purchase. One of the manufacturers we partner with, Orbit, offers LED and fluorescent standard string lights. There is also a floor stand option and a tripod mount option. Click the image below to shop for different options.

Another manufacturer, Kenall, is offering an anti-bacterial option for temporary medical facilities.

Their lights produce safe, visible light at 405 nanometers. That's just past the near-UV spectrum, but still has disinfecting abilities. The light reduces the chance for bacterial infection, which can be very beneficial for temporary medical tents.

Temporary medical facility kits

Kits for temporary medical tents from Ericson include everything needed for power and lighting.

You can order different kits based on the quantity of supplies you need, but all of them include:

  • Power distribution
  • Cord sets
  • Cable and hose protectors
  • String lights or bay lights
