It has been a year since Regency Lighting acquired AllSale Electric, an electrical wholesaler based in Canoga Park, California.
The acquisition came as a move meant to expand and integrate product lines. Lighting, after all, occupies just one portion of the electrical wholesale industry at large.
Beyond product, the opportunity for Regency project managers, lighting designers, and specifiers to better learn the broader electrical side of the business –– beginning with controls and moving on down the line –– allows for our team members to better serve our customers. Greater familiarity with the electrical products that the electrical contractors and general contractors are pairing with the lamps and fixtures we've sold them allows for greater service and increased expertise, falling right in line with Regency's core values.
While electrical distribution and lighting distribution have their differences, Regency and AllSale have plenty of overlap in the verticals we serve. Furthermore, the types of commodity products we sell out of both business are similar. In both businesses, we know it takes a uniquely high standard of service and product knowledge to stand out. We brought a 30-year reputation for those things into AllSale.
And just as we've seen in lighting over the last several years, the demand for project management from electrical distributors is only rising.
On the other hand, unlike Regency, AllSale serves a single local market –– Southern California. AllSale also has to navigate daily cost changes to materials. The frequency of such variables in lighting is much lower.
All in all, we're encouraged by what we've learned in the last year with AllSale under the Regency umbrella. Here are a couple of highlights:
1. AllSale growth
AllSale has added 18 new employees and two new fleet trucks to the fold. The employees plugged some holes in quotes and project management and the trucks allow us to serve our customers more rapidly.
Simultaneous to growth in those areas, AllSale has ramped up its shelved inventory of its top-selling products.
2. Career pathing for Regency and AllSale employees
Just as Regency employees have been able to more deeply understand the electrical side of the business through our relationship with AllSale, existing AllSale employees are becoming lighting experts themselves. This provides a competitive advantage for AllSale, as the go-to supplier when a large electrical project carries an advanced lighting component.
What are we hoping to execute with AllSale in the future, to further our growth strategy?
Here are a few key objectives:
- Grow the size and efficiency of our warehouse
- Develop eCommerce strategy
- Add additional product and service lines
- Leverage Regency's design expertise to further provide value to our customers
- Develop cross-selling opportunities for both Regency and AllSale to provide customers with a deeper inventory and level of expertise for both lighting and electrical
We look forward to serving all of your lighting and electrical needs as best as we can in the years to come.
