What is the average lead time for a lighting order?

How long will it take to get my lighting order?

When making the decision to purchase a certain lighting product, are there any questions that matter more than price, availability, and timeline?

Perhaps that's the case with anything you order – how much does it cost, is it in stock, and when am I going to get it?

But the stakes can be pretty high when you're ordering lighting to get your building or store into shape before an executive visits or ahead of the holidays or when you're knee-deep in a national rollout schedule.

So, if you call Regency right now and purchase lighting, how long will it take to get your order?

Well, it depends.

If you were to peek at the items available for purchase on Amazon Prime right now, you'd probably find mostly commodity items – everything from toothbrushes to Tupperware, cookbooks to card games. If you live in the right metropolitan areas, there's a decent chance you can even get some of those items delivered same day.

What won't you see available on Prime? Specialty furniture, custom artwork, high-end clothing, and most everything else non-commodity. Amazon just doesn't sell enough of that stuff for it to take up space on a warehouse shelf somewhere.

We're no Amazon and, unfortunately, we probably won't be delivering your light bulb later this afternoon, but our stocking and lead time situation isn't all that different from theirs.

Here are 10 ways Regency works to make lighting easier for our customers.

Lead times for standard lighting products

Our equivalent to toothbrushes and card games are standard lamps and ballasts.

Most common lamp and ballast types are kept in stock at our six distribution centers nationwide, allowing for swift shipment. Also, many standard fixtures and their components are kept in stock, such as troffers and lenses, track and trackheads, wallpacks, standard downlights, and tapelight

Standard shipping time for these types of products is 1-2 business days.

Lead times for non-stock lighting products

Custom items, such as LED-integrated fixtures, almost always require much longer lead times. Such items often aren't kept shelved in our distribution centers and sometimes aren't even stocked nor pre-assembled by the manufacturer. So when an order is placed for one of these products, there are a lot of steps that must be taken in order to fulfill.

In some cases, LED lamps also fall into this non-stock category because of the manufacturing processes and speed with which new products are released.

For non-stock items carried by our main manufacturers, lead times are typically between 3-5 business days.

The proliferation of LED has made a virtually endless combination of options possible. From lamp shape and base to Kelvin temperature and CRI to design features and voltage and topology and aesthetics and sockets, the sheer number of choices makes it impossible for manufacturers to manage production and stock levels for certain products.

So for most LED-integrated fixtures and other custom orders (like those fancy decorative fixtures), lead times can be anywhere from 10 days to 10 weeks.
